City of God

I read this news today and found out this city or, to be more accurate, a slum which has been notorious for decades for its drug lord, gang, armed crime, and any sort of violence that you can name it. Children are afraid to go to school. People do not interact with the police officers for fear that the next moment will be their last moment on the earth. Fear is the biggest part in the life for those who live in this slum.

What is ironic here is that this place, located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is named "City of God" or Cidade de Deus in portugese. Although it has been much better now, I can see how much we human need Christ and how much we need redemption in this world.
